Jumping into the process of designing your dream home can seem overwhelming, but don’t worry—we’re here to help you through the process! But, like any adventure, it all starts with a single step. And, we put together a straightforward guide to help you navigate the exciting process of turning your vision into reality.
Step 1: Define Your Style and Size
First things first, let’s talk style. Are you into modern, sleek lines, classic elegance, or maybe a cozy rustic vibe? Whatever floats your boat, nail down the style that makes your heart sing. And while you’re at it, think about the size of your dream home. Do you need a spacious layout for entertaining or something more intimate and snug? Knowing your style and size preferences sets the stage for the rest of your design journey.
Step 2: Get Inspired Online
Next, dive into the wonderful world of online inspiration. Platforms like Pinterest and Instagram are gold mines for ideas. Create boards, save your favourite posts, and gather images that scream, “This is so me!” This step is all about exploring and discovering what you love—and what you absolutely don’t.
Step 3: Chat with the Pros
With your inspiration in hand, it’s time to bring in the experts. Take your ideas to a design firm or builder and watch the magic happen. At North Pointe Homes, we love collaborating with our clients to bring their dream homes to life. We’ll take your vision and help you refine it, making sure every detail is just right. We share our expertise and experience to help you make the best decisions. We’re straight shooters—we’ll tell you what works and what doesn’t, even if it means giving some tough love about a product or selection.
Our goal is always to provide honest, valuable insights so you can make informed choices. Whether you’re stuck on a material choice or need layout advice, we’ve got your back.
Dream Homes We’ve
Made into a Reality
We’ve helped countless homeowners make their dream homes a reality. Check out some of our favourite projects:
Valleyview Project
Picture this: a grand vaulted ceiling and a show-stopping fireplace. That’s what the clients at Valleyview had in mind, and boy, did we deliver. The stone around the fireplace ties beautifully into the home’s exterior, and the Dekton hearth is perfect for cozying up by the fire.

Midway through construction, the homeowners decided they wanted a climate-controlled wine room instead of a regular bar. Challenge accepted! We spray-foamed and sealed the wine room walls, added a Koolr refrigeration unit, and tied in the same stone from upstairs with a custom metal door. Voilà, wine storage dreams come true.
Rio Project
Talk about unique! The homeowners at Rio Terrace wanted an entry that made a statement, so we created an oak slat wall with one side mirrored and the other finished with liquid metal. Fancy, right?

With a gorgeous south-facing exposure, they wanted to make the most of natural light. We installed custom fibreglass windows to let the sunshine pour in. The fireplace? A masterpiece of patina’d liquid metal panels and a Dekton hearth. It’s the perfect blend of style and functionality.
River View House

When a cabinet maker tells you they want a bar that screams richness and detail, you know it’s going to be special. At the River View House, we crafted a bar from black walnut, reclaimed brick, and leathered granite. Designed on-site, it’s a true showpiece, thanks to our amazing finishing carpenter.
The homeowner also wanted a refrigerated wine unit to show off their impressive collection. We continued the black walnut and reclaimed brick theme, adding LED lighting throughout for that extra wow factor.
